INTRODUCING TOURISM ACADEMY: YOUR NEW HOSPITALITY RESOURCE
The Visit Baltimore Education & Training Foundation debuted the Baltimore Tourism Academy this year, an online learning platform that contains free, flexible training modules for hospitality professionals. Aimed at strengthening tourism in Baltimore, the platform is a resource for partners, small businesses, volunteers and students to learn how to promote the city as a destination, enhance visitor experiences and advance their careers in the hospitality industry.
The first course on the platform, Charm City Certified, teaches you how to create authentic, welcoming and memorable experiences for visitors to Baltimore. Participants have the opportunity to engage in ongoing education and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and best practices. Those who complete the Charm City Certified course receive access to the Insider Pass, which unlocks discounts and special offers to participating Baltimore businesses and attractions.

Shaping Future Hospitality Leaders
As part of Visit Baltimore’ s mission to advocate for the local tourism community, we often participate in events to show students what the tourism and hospitality industry has to offer for future career paths. One of those events is the 4th Annual Baltimore CTE Food, Beverage & Baking Competition. Held at the Baltimore Convention Center, the event saw more than 250 Baltimore City Public School students showcase their culinary skills, with Forest Park High School taking the prize in a“ top-chef” style competition.
Students also had the opportunity to hear from the Convention Center’ s sales, services, operations and IT departments as well as local entrepreneurs Naijha Wright- Brown, Monesha Phillips, Brandon Phillips, Brian Dawson and Aaron Dante who provided advice and guidance to the high schoolers as they continue their educational journey.
