HOSTING EVENTS IN BALTIMORE : AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW OFF OUR CITY
Visit Baltimore ’ s customer experience team successfully hosted the Islamic Circle of North America over a very busy Memorial Day weekend with Orioles games and the Hell in the Harbor music festival happening at Power Plant Live . The group estimated 22,000 attendees but ended up with 27,000 and 4,672 room nights . They are committed to return through 2025 .
International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum was in town in March and had originally requested 1,210 room nights but finalized 5,461 and 3,745 attendees . The group has extreme growth potential thanks to their positive experience in Baltimore – they are looking at three future years in the city .
MARYLAND CYCLING CLASSIC
Baltimore was the proud host of the inaugural Maryland Cycling Classic over Labor Day weekend 2022 , the first in a three-year commitment . The Maryland Cycling Classic is a one-day international cycling race sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale and USA Cycling . The 124-mile course starts in Baltimore County and ends in the Inner Harbor and is broadcast internationally to more than 100 countries . The race is part of a three-day community celebration of healthy lifestyle and living with events , local foods and drinks and other fun activities . Visit Baltimore was on site with our lemon stick trike and Al Hutchinson provided welcome remarks to the teams .
According to Medalist Sports , the combined economic impact and media equivalency for the 2022 race was an estimated $ 25 million for Baltimore City and $ 35-40 million for the state of Maryland , with a media impact of more than 2.3 billion global impressions .
