SUPPORTING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

In response to industry-wide staffing shortages resulting in part from a pandemic exodus of employees from hospitality jobs , Visit Baltimore with the support of the District Management Committee ( DMC ), produced a targeted ad campaign to raise awareness of the immediate availability of positions in hospitality along with the variety of career paths that can lead to long-term opportunities in areas including finance , management , events , sales , human resources , food and beverage , housekeeping and more .

The campaign launched with targeted digital , social media and outdoor creative , followed by TV and radio ads featuring real hospitality employees with inspiring stories :
• Thomas Penny , President of Donohoe Hospitality Services
• Kelli Singleton , Director of Housekeeping at Hotel Revival
• Anna Welker , Bar Manager at Topside Restaurant
The ads drove visits to a robust Hospitality Jobs webpage , Baltimore . org / Careers , which details the value of tourism , current openings , recruitment opportunities and more . The page included links to HCareers , Indeed and the Mayor ’ s Office of Employment Development , as well as details about Visit Baltimore ’ s openings including information about the Diversity Apprenticeship and Data Analytics Fellowship programs . Additional support of this effort is planned to continue and hopefully expand in the coming year .
