d) Citizenship in Action“ Citizenship in Action’’ brought theory into the real world. To truly understand citizenship, students had to step into their communities. The“ Citizenship in Action’’ initiative encouraged them to plan and implement real-world civic projects. Thus, students and teachers brainstormed realworld issues, and each team chose one of five established action types based on their interests, taking local initiative while contributing to a shared international goal. Some recorded podcast interviews with teachers, community members, and peers, tackling themes like democracy, inclusion, corruption, or student participation. Others organized school exhibitions, raised awareness on social media, or participated in volunteer campaigns. For instance, as part of the“ Community Action Challenge’’, Team 1 from Moldova addressed the issue of everyday corruption through a creative and impactful initiative. Motivated by their own observations and a survey among young people in Moldova, the students designed“ Corruptia: The Board Game”, a powerful tool to spark honest conversations about unethical behaviour in schools, public services, and daily life. The game simulated real-life scenarios, prompting players to reflect on their choices and the normalization of small corrupt acts. By combining gameplay with discussion, the team succeeded in raising awareness and promoting civic responsibility among their peers and
family members. To extend their message beyond the school walls, they produced a visually striking video that highlighted corruption in relatable ways. Their project turned abstract civic education into real, engaging action, showing how young people can challenge systemic issues with creativity, dialogue, and teamwork.
In their contribution to the“ Citizens’ Voices’’ initiative from the“ Citizenship in Action” series, Team 2 explored civic engagement by conducting a series of interviews with peers, teachers, and their headmaster, Mr. Cerbușcă. The aim was to highlight how democratic values, inclusion, and active citizenship are practiced within our school community.
