Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2025 Newsletter competence development often remain abstract while eTwinning makes these concepts real, tangible and necessary. Students collaborate with European peers on projects exploring Europeana and Scientix, two of the eTwinning’ s supportive partners. As you might know, these are powerful European platforms offering cultural heritage and science education resources, respectively. These collaborations involve creating genuine teaching materials while developing digital competence and discovering valuable resources.
The dual focus on process and product ensures meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond typical university assignments. In fact, students that have already taken the subject report that creating real materials for future use increases motivation and engagement.
Students also collaborate with other international students to explore professional development opportunities through ESEP and European Schoolnet. This experiential approach ensures they enter teaching careers already connected to European educational communities. The idea is that student teachers feel capable of independently identifying relevant training opportunities for their professional growth, and that they have the tools to participate in effective international projects.
This is more easily achievable if the teachers get supported practice during their university preparation rather than hoping they will somehow develop these skills independently later.

However, available evidence shows promising positive outcomes across multiple dimensions. According to Paz- Albó and López( 2017), more than eight of every 10 future teachers believe that eTwinning improves the decision-making skills of the participants; nine of every 10 showed higher motivation results; and almost nine of every 10 identify eTwinning as a tool that will help them increase the involvement and motivation of their future learners.
The 2023 monitoring report specifically focused on ITE found that most participants reported significant positive impact on their pedagogical, professional, and technological skills( European Commission et al., 2023). Digital competence emerged as the most frequently investigated outcome area, with 70.6 % of studies investigating various aspects of technological skill development. This finding proves particularly relevant given education ' s accelerated digitalization.
