STEM with Pete Is Really Great – Exploring Science through Stories and Creativity by Nicoletta Huștiuc and Keziban Armağan

The eTwinning project " STEM with Pete Is Really Great " is an engaging and innovative educational experience that brings together students and teachers from across Europe to explore STEM( Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts in a fun and meaningful way, inspired by the adventures of the beloved character Pete the Cat.
Project overview and objectives Designed for early primary education, this project uses literature-based STEM learning, where students engage with the popular Pete the Cat book series as a springboard for hands-on exploration, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
Each month, partner schools read a different Pete the Cat story and designed STEM challenges related to the book’ s theme. These included: * Science experiments( e. g. testing colours after reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes); * Math games( counting, patterns, and sorting based on story elements); * Engineering tasks( building Pete’ s car or house using recycled materials); * Technology and coding( simple coding activities using platforms like ScratchJr, Blue-Bot, or unplugged coding); * Arts & crafts inspired by the books, helping reinforce learning through creativity.
The project also included virtual meetings, joint activities between countries, and the creation of digital storybooks, videos, and collaborative presentations, allowing students to share their work and interact with peers from other cultures.
Through this project, the aim is to: * Foster curiosity and a love for STEM subjects at an early age; * Encourage collaborative learning and creativity; * Integrate reading, science, and coding in an interdisciplinary approach; * Strengthen communication and digital skills in a playful context. * Activities and Methodology
