How did you integrate the project in the curriculum? The little students of Ottavo Circolo were the youngest taking part in the project, but its process and goals were perfectly fitting into the curriculum, covering all the planned fields of experience, specifically referring to the European dimension and the related Key Competences. The project was a means of developing digital skills, through the discovery and use of some etools; it stimulated the use of the mother tongue during all phases of the project: pupils were guided to express opinions, motivate choices and evaluations, share ideas; it consolidated social skills already activated, through practices such as Circle Time, Cooperative Learning, Peer to Peer work.
Pupils interacted using simple English words during online meetings, with an authentic approach to communication in the second language; they developed innovative ideas, with a research and discovery approach( learning to learn); activated their spirit of initiative, composing poems and peace messages and individually designing the spaceship.
How was the approach to ICT? In the Preschool context the use of the interactive whiteboard was fundamental for the constant search of online material from YouTube, NASA website and ESERO( European and Italian Space Agency) which promoted participation, active involvement and inclusion. For childhood, the app JigsawPlanet was particularly effective in turning into a puzzle a poster made by the 5-years-old section, where Italy with its monuments was drawn. An ebook was also created for a sonnet to the Moon, with the app BookCreator.
