did at his time . At ancient times navigators had to develop strategies to estimate their routes and it was a good example to let them experiment it . In all the schools the teachers presented the topic and the students in every location collaborated to find the approximate Earth ' s circumference exchanging information and filling a form with the data provided by the mates in the other countries .
In that week in Genova the main thread concerned Christopher Columbus , but they also had the chance to run an Orienteering session in the beautiful spot of the parks of Nervi . One of the activities proposed ( even if we were aware that was difficult to conclude ) was planning some virtual escape rooms that international teams had to play collaborating in the final video conference .
After the mobility , that involved 10 French and 8 Spanish students , the escape rooms were completed and tested , and the final products were presented and discussed during the curricular lessons to all involved community .
We are pleased to point out that , thanks to the Erasmus + mobilities , all the students met their foreign mates : the French and the Italians because the meetings were organised in their schools and the Spanish because all of them could travel abroad . In the final video conference , each international team played the escape room created by another group and then they had to collaborate ( finally on the TS forum , this time !) to write a sentence with words starting with the letters of the project ' s name .
Finally , all students had to answer a survey about the project and could leave a message in a bottle to their mates abroad , hoping to meet again soon ( and we know that some of them
organised trips to the partner schools areas in Summer ).
In our schools , this was the first time after the pandemic when students could move abroad again . As teachers , we noticed that it was harder than before to find host families , as if everybody felt better looking at screens rather than meeting people for real . Those pupils were quite young when Covid-19 began , and they never had the chance to take part in a school trip abroad . We could realise how their mind changed when they met their partners . Yet to be able to take the best part of it , working on an eTwinning project before , during and after the Erasmus really helps . Indeed , students can begin collaborating more quickly and more efficiently , and the perspective of a meeting develops their motivation for the project and for learning at school as well .
