Innovation and Education through the eTwinning Project G . A . M . E . by Ludmila Cojocari and Mihaela Gîț
The eTwinning project " Growing with Applied Mathematics Experiences " ( G . A . M . E .) was a great initiative that had a significant impact on education , bringing innovation and dynamism to learning . By using applied mathematics in an interactive and engaging way , this project managed to give students the opportunity to experiment and apply mathematical concepts in a real and relevant context , thus contributing to the development of their mathematical skills and critical thinking .
One of our major objectives was to develop students ' autonomy and strengthen their ability to approach situations involving mathematics both in school and in everyday life . We wanted to give students confidence in their own mathematical skills and knowledge , thus promoting the habit of working both individually and in teams .
Through the interactive and interesting approach of applied mathematics , the G . A . M . E . project managed to stimulate students ' curiosity and interest in this field , transforming the learning process into an exciting and memorable experience . The results obtained from this project not only improved the students ' level of mathematical knowledge , but also contributed to the development of their problem-solving skills and application of knowledge in real contexts .
Through various activities carried out within the project , students learned how to use mathematics in various application contexts , such as statistics applied within the
Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ), Geometry and Trigonometry in real life , the concept of symmetry , participation in Code Week and discovering new possibilities offered by games and mathematical applications .
The most popular activity , according to the students ' assessment , was the " Golden Ratio ", whose value is the irrational number Φ = 1.61 ..., obtained by solving the equation x 2 – x – 1 = 0 . The fact that this ratio is very common in biology , nature , art made students discover and experiment new applications of mathematics in real life , in an innovative way . They worked in three international teams . One team wrote " The Story of the Golden Ratio ". Link : https :// online . fliphtml5 . com / ogxwo / sajb /# p = 1
The second created a film in Canva on the same theme : https :// youtu . be /__ 6zZuIom9E . The third worked in a Google Doc , like this : one student created a problem and another student from the team solved it . Their study led to the creation of an eBook .
