The pupils read the story The Elephant and Generosity , after which they all drew parts of the story together . In the end , with the help of pictures , they told the story using the kamishibai technique ( an old Japanese way of telling stories ). The meeting took place in a cheerful atmosphere .
In May 2023 , our school participated in an event called A Day Without Connection ( Dan BezVeze ), a day dedicated to activities that do not require ICT . On this occasion , we had a special visit from The Care Home for Elderly People Novinščak . Our pupils and care home residents spent time telling stories and sewing together .
1st Primary School of Neapoli ( Crete ), Greece To mark The International Day for Tolerance , we had a special guest , Mr Lemonis , a Paralympic athlete . He talked to the 6th-grade pupils about his life , his studies at the university , his daily routine , his difficulties and his struggle to become a Paralympic athlete and Panhellenic champion of boccia , a sport played by athletes with severe physical disabilities . The pupils had the chance to narrate the story Battle for Life written by pupils for Europe Day . They discussed the need for respect , support , equal rights , and opportunities for everyone , regardless of physical appearance or abilities .
They also spoke about the importance of being tolerant towards people that may differ and the need to appreciate them as they are , free of acts of discrimination , fear or marginalisation .
After the meeting , the pupils collaboratively created a poster with their feelings and thoughts , encouraging a positive attitude towards all people with physical or mental disabilities .
