Through the Pathhway to School Success initiative , the commission aims to reduce school failure to 15 % by 2025 , adopting a systemic approach that involves , in addition to school , a whole series of actors such as parents , psychologists , associations , local authorities , etc . in a collaborative work whose ultimate purpose is to prevent and intervene early for the resolution of the problems identified .
Teachers cannot be supportive of pupils if they do not feel good in the school environment first . They also complain about the lack of preparation and support to contribute to their mental and emotional well-being . The expert group on Well-being at school will work for 15 months to develop guidelines for an approach that promotes well-being at school , propose a toolkit for self-diagnosis and improvement on well-being at school , propose recommendations for activities dedicated to promoting awareness on these issues at national and European level .
The second initiative focuses on the scholastic well-being of pupils and teachers . In fact , academic success is closely connected to how the people who are part of it feel within the school environment . Currently available data shows that 20 % of schoolchildren experience anxiety during their school career , and 1 in 5 children report feeling unhappy and anxious about the future due to bullying , challenges posed by school work and loneliness .
Well-being also concerns teachers who are increasingly showing signs of burnout . 24 % of teachers report that their work has a negative impact on their mental health , while 22 % also report that their physical health .
Subsequently , Dr . Arianna Sala presented the LifeComp or the European Framework for Personal , Social and Learning to Learn Key Competence ( 2020 ) of which she is the author . The LifeComp follows the Recommendation of the Council of the European Union of 22 May 2018 which identifies the already known 8 key competences that allow people to realize themselves from a personal , occupational and social point of view in a constantly changing world , and offers a conceptual framework of 3 competences ( personal , social and learning to learn ) each divided , in turn , in 3 competences .
