Ina Barbalat is an English and French teacher at the Centre of Excellence in Transports in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, and the founder of DriVETrain – Career Compass. An active eTwinner since 2022, she is passionate about creating meaningful international learning experiences that help students use English authentically, develop confidence and discover new opportunities beyond the classroom. Her professional interests include vocational education, digital pedagogy, innovative learning and international collaboration.

What career will a fourteen-year-old have in ten years? How can we prepare young people for jobs that do not exist yet? How can vocational education help students recognise their talents, communicate their skills and confidently design their future? These questions were at the heart of DriVETrain Career Compass, the innovative eTwinning project that reimagined career guidance as a European journey of discovery, collaboration and personal growth. In many vocational schools, students are preparing for a world of work that is rapidly changing. Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation and new social and environmental challenges are creating new professions while redefining existing ones. In this context, career guidance cannot simply mean presenting students with a list of possible jobs. It must become a process that helps young people understand who they are, recognise their strengths and develop the competences needed to navigate uncertainty.
DriVETrain Career Compass was created with this vision: eighteen vocational schools from Italy, Portugal, Türkiye, Romania and the Republic of Moldova joined forces to create a learning community where students could explore the future together.
