Discovering Plants in the Schoolyard and Its Surroundings: From a Little Seed to a Community Plan( t) by Marzia Luzzini
Since 2012, the Italian National eTwinning Support Organization at INDIRE has participated in the European initiative " eTwinning for Future Teachers." Within this framework, the Catholic University( UCSC) of Milan, under my supervision, has been actively involved in the Initial Teacher Education( ITE), which brings together more than 180 higher education institutions and universities across Europe with the aim of integrating eTwinning into initial teacher education.
Thanks to its flexibility, sustainability, openness to innovation, and its capacity to foster both national and international collaboration, eTwinning has proved particularly well suited to the education of future teachers. Increasingly, teachers are expected to work in multicultural settings, systematically integrate Information and Communication Technologies( ICT) into everyday teaching practices, promote communication and foreign language learning, adopt project-based learning methodologies that actively engage students, and design personalized learning pathways that foster the development of key competences while supporting inclusion.
Collaboration and Division of Responsibilities This project is the result of a collaborative partnership between Catholic University, Faculty of Primary Education and The University of Thessaly, under the supervision of professors Evangelia Kalogirou and Anastasios Siatras, established with the aim of fostering close cooperation in the professional development of pre-service teachers during their teaching placements. Through joint planning, implementation, and reflection, the partnership provides student teachers with opportunities to develop pedagogical, intercultural, and collaborative competences within an international educational context.
Responsibilities are distributed as follows: The Catholic University of the Sacred Heart( Italy) coordinates the artistic and creative components of the project, including leaf art activities, poems, and songs. It is also responsible for developing supporting educational materials, such as
