This innovative approach to data journalism successfully raised climate awareness, empowering young people to see how their daily habits directly determine which future becomes a reality: end-result. This activity was shared on the ESEP platform.
Sustainability One-Pager Challenge formulated definitions, eco-messages, and sustainable practices in multiple languages to build cross-border understanding. This hybrid creative process combined hands-on layouts with digital tools for collaborative peer review on the TwinSpace platform. By working together across language barriers, students successfully turned data journalism into actionable, communityfocused climate awareness.
Earth Day Challenge: The Hidden Cost of Being Online To celebrate Earth Day, this activity invited students to investigate the hidden environmental impacts of their digital habits. Combining data journalism with hybrid creativity, participants analysed texts concerning internet pollution, energy-heavy servers, and the fossil fuels powering our digital world. Through strategic word highlighting and handdrawn illustrations, students distilled complex data into clear, impactful messages about the carbon footprint of data storage: Canva, YouTube.
