Data Journalism for Climate Action: An International Erasmus + and eTwinning Project by Helga Kraljik and Željka Brezni
Theodora Tsagkari is a teacher of English in the Primary School of Pamfila, Lesvos, Greece. She has been an eTwinner since 2011 and is the coordinator of Erasmus + projects in her school.
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time, but how do we tell its story in a way that truly inspires people? The answer lies in data, media, and storytelling. This is exactly what the Data Journalism for Climate Action( DJ4CA) project is all about.
DJ4CA is an international Erasmus +( Facebook, DJ4CA Instagram Page or the DJ4CA YouTube Channel) and eTwinning project that brings together schools from six different countries. Through this collaboration, students work in international teams to become " data journalists for the planet ". Instead of just reading about environmental issues, they learn how to find real data, analyse it, and create powerful visual stories.
Whether working virtually, onsite, or through a hybrid approach, these activities were all designed to foster deep international collaboration. From online workshops to face-to-face meetings, students from Portugal, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Türkiye, and Croatia worked hand in hand to make a real impact.
