” Each Drop Counts” – Learning Together for a Sustainable Future by Raluca Gheorghiu
Students from Greece, Spain, Turkey, and Romania joined forces this year in the eTwinning project“ Each Drop Counts”, a collaborative journey that helped children understand why water matters and how every small action can protect it. Through creative tasks, digital tools, and international teamwork, pupils became true Water Guardians, learning together across borders.
Learning together across borders Throughout the project, students met online, presented their work, played real-time Kahoot quizzes, and discovered each other’ s cultures. These live sessions
strengthened their confidence in using English and helped them communicate naturally with international peers. At Alba Iulia Sport High School, the 3rd grade C class participated actively under the guidance of teacher coordination by librarian Gheorghiu Raluca and primary teacher Lavinia Ispas. The school was also a co-founder of the project, working closely with the lead school in Cartagena, Spain.
Meaningful activities that made the project shine Environmental education was at the heart of the project. Inspired by Wangari’ s Trees of Peace, students created a collaborative Forest of Hope, reflecting on environmental responsibility. They explored good and bad water-use practices through short videos and animated their drawings with ChatterPix in the activity Why Does Each Drop Count? A highlight was the collaborative StoryJumper book The Traveling Drop, where children illustrated Luna, a little water drop traveling across Europe and learning how each country protects its water resources.
Digital citizenship and eSafety Students learned how to stay safe online, protect personal data, and communicate respectfully. For Safer Internet Day, they co-created an international Kahoot quiz— an engaging way to reinforce responsible digital behavior while collaborating with peers abroad.
