Visibility of eTwinning Projects Group July 2026 Newsletter
Discussion The results of this study support the view that eTwinning projects can create opportunities for collaboration, communication and the development of digital skills in a European learning environment( Kearney, Gras-Velázquez, & Joyce, 2019). Teachers’ positive attitude towards the project’ s contribution to the cultivation of good citizenship is linked to the broader framework of competences for democratic culture, which emphasizes the development of values, attitudes, knowledge and skills that enable active participation of citizens in society( Council of Europe, 2019). At the same time, they show that these concepts can be effectively approached from preschool age, when linked to experiential and collaborative activities. This finding is in line with the modern approach to education for active citizenship, according to which students need to actively participate in processes of collaboration, communication and decision-making( Johnson, Johnson, & Holubec, 1998). At the same time, it is linked to the literature on inclusive education, which highlights the importance of creating learning environments that enhance the equal participation of all students( Soulis, 2002). In the case of Roma children, participation in a European collaborative project may take on additional importance, as it broadens opportunities for interaction and strengthens their presence in a broader educational and social context. The positive contribution of Roma children ' s participation in a collaborative and inclusive educational environment is linked to the broader European policy on equality, social inclusion and the
participation of Roma in education and society( European Commission, 2020. European Commission, 2023).
The final evaluation of the teachers highlighted as the most important benefits of the project the strengthening of autonomy and organization of information, the development of oral and written communication in English and the learning of new online tools. These findings confirm the multidimensional nature of collaborative European programs, as the learning process is not limited to the acquisition of cognitive knowledge, but extends to the development of social, communicative and digital skills. The development of the above skills is linked to the theoretical framework of the work and in particular to the importance of collaborative and digital learning environments. The collaboration with students and teachers from other countries created authentic communication conditions and enhanced the participation of students in common activities and products.
The positive attitude of parents and the discussion of values in the family environment highlight the importance of school-family cooperation. The relevant literature highlights that the active participation of the family can enhance the learning and social development of children( Epstein, 2018). The findings from the parent evaluation highlight the importance of the family as a factor in strengthening the educational process. The high percentage of parents who stated that they discuss with children values such as respect, honesty and
