girl talk does modesty
matter?
than
plan than you think!
Sometimes when I’m getting dressed for work in the morning, I’ll say to my husband “Do you think these pants are too tight? Or "Do you think this skirt is too short?” And he always says the same thing. “If you have to ask me, then you don’t need to wear it.” And he's right. If I'm already feeling some kind of way about what I'm wearing, than God has dropped conviction in my spirit about wearing it. And that conviction is His way of saying, "Take that mess off!"
"Nothing is cute enough to compensate for how modesty feels."
I came across this phrase when I was preparing to write this article on modesty. It is more powerful to me than any definition, devotional or Bible verse I've read about modesty. It's so powerful to me because it speaks to how I feel, not how I look. And that's the true essence of modesty.
When you are dressed modestly, you have an inner beauty that comes across to others as calm confidence. The way you dress has an impact on how you see yourself, how others see you and how God sees you.
But why do you dress the way you do? How do you decide which pieces of clothing grace your body and which ones don’t? Where do you draw the modesty line? Take the modesty test on page 12 to see where you stand.
