Hazing is actually a process that is a bit like trying to get into a fraternity in US universities, they are set tasks that can be degrading and demeaning but they have to do them if they want to get in.

We don't like this, and we set tasks that mean people can learn more about our members and our home." replied Rudh.

I was intrigued by the ways in which the club was organised differently and questioned them further about that. Rudh explained how they are set up "The Gators is organised in a similar way to the majority of MCs in Second Life. It is a tiered system. We have a President, and an Executive - Senior Officers - then we have four officer ranks (Enforcers, Mentors/Recruiters, Event Co-Ordinators & Road Captains). After that comes the fully patched members, and then Prospects. Prospects are the people wanting to become part of the MC."

I wondered if this mirrored the way that real life motorcycle clubs were set up and Hellbone confirmed that it was very similar. "There may be different names for ranks, and there may also be extra ranks that we do not have due to the nature of it being a virtual world. For example some MCs in RL will have road guards to block off other traffic."

I was keen to learn more about the individual roles within the club but at this point was told "Due to the nature of Biker Law, it is always told to any member of the MC that they are not allowed to discuss MC matters outside of the MC. I can tell you that in the similar way to every MC we have a ranking system with 4 different officer ranks. We have Enforcers who are the MC security that are lead by our Sergent at Arms. The Secretary controls the day to day running of the MC and has an Event Co-Ordinator and the Mentors (also known as Recruiters). In some MCs the Mentors are basically more for recruitment to bring people in, in the Gators however; our Mentors are there to assist people with the whole process of joining the family and even after that people can still go to them with questions. We also have Road Captains, these are the people that plan our ride outs and handle bookings from other MCs on our track."
