When I was a teenager, my mother used to tell me to avoid boys on motorbikes, I am not quite sure whether she was more concerned about the boys or the bikes but as a result I have only been on the back of a motorbike half a dozen times and when I became a mother of teenagers, I did beg them not to get motorbikes; in my view, mothers spend enough time worrying without adding bikes to the mix.
So how come I have any interest in writing about motorcycle clubs in Second Life? Simply, one of my best friends here is a member of a club and I was fascinated to find out more about why she loves it. She is a member of the Gators Motorcycle Club (MC) and after a quick trip around the circuit they have built on their land I got talking to HellBone Barbosa, the President of the club, and his wife Rudhmellowen Laguna, the Secretary, to find out more about the club.
I started by asking about how long the club had been going and how it started. Rudh answered "The Gators MC was started back in February 2013 after HellBone left the MC that he had been in and wanted to start something that worked in a way he felt happier being a
part of." Hellbone added "I had been in a few clubs in the past and felt that things such as hazing were not necessary. We started the MC with more of a family feel, anything we do we
do together and no one is left behind. Our focus is on having some fun and enjoying Bikes and the Roadways in Second Life of which there are so many different types of each."
"What do you mean by hazing?" I asked.
