Gentle Heron

Alcyan: What was the reason you originally joined Second Life and how you see Second Life after already 8 years being inside this virtual reality?

Gentle: I was seeking a way to maintain social connections and to avoid becoming increasingly isolated as my disability increased. Second Life helped with that and offers many more benefits. I have made many good friends here, whom I would never have met if not for Second Life.

Alcyan: What is your disability?

Gentle: I have multiple sclerosis.

Alcyan: What is Virtual Ability and what were the reasons you joined this community?

Gentle: Virtual Ability is two things, really. The one most people here are familiar with is the international cross-disability peer support community of over 1000 people. But there is a nonprofit corporation, Virtual Ability, Inc., that exists in the geographic world. It is the legal entity that can make contracts and provides financial support for the inworld community.
