VSGA SUPER SENIOR WOMEN ’ S GOLFER OF THE YEAR

Shawn McCullough

HOME CLUB : Mount Vernon Country Club
Personal highlight : Playing in the U . S . Senior Women ’ s Amateur at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale , AZ was thrilling . The tournament was at a first-class venue , where I was able to reconnect with fellow competitors from a lifetime of golf . The entire experience was the epitome of amateur golf .
Golf goals for 2024 : Compete in Virginia , VSGA , USGA , national and regional events . Meeting and making friends at all the tournaments are lifetime experiences . Each competitor brings a plethora of achievements , unique skills , and experiences that when shared make for epic memories .
Best club in your bag : The 54-degree wedge — my go-to club for scoring , saving pars and making birdies .
CHRIS LANG ( 3 ), USGA
Must play course you haven ’ t played and / or a “ dream ” destination golf trip ? Old Head Golf Course in Ireland is my dream course to play . My dear college golf friend , Ann Casey Johnstone , named Old Head as the best course in the world . I would like to take a long-extended golf trip to Southern Ireland to play many lesser known and traveled golf courses and visit numerous pubs to make friends among my Irish heritage .
What is a fun fact no one knows about you ? I love sharing food at big parties and dinners ; however , that ’ s not really a secret !
