TURN YOUR HIPS
Lack of hip turn is a common issue with
4 beginner and intermediate golfers . If you ’ re not turning your hips in the downswing , you ’ re most likely not producing efficient power . This tip is not so much a drill but more about awareness of what the trail knee is doing to create the hip turn and proper weight transfer . If your trail foot is on the ground for too long , you ’ ve most likely stalled your hips and were unsuccessful with proper weight transfer .
When the trail knee drives inward on the downswing , it automatically drives your hips to turn .

STOP LUNGING AT THE BALL

CORRECT
The dreaded lunge commonly happens on the downswing , causing you to lose posture and your chest moves closer to the ball . When this happens , the hips don ’ t have enough room to turn and then your head moves in front of the ball at impact . The outcome of a lunge is very unpredictable .
Here ’ s the drill : Start with a sand wedge and work up to the driver . Once you address the ball , take the club to the top of the swing and pause for three seconds . The first five or six balls of this drill will give you a great sense of which part of your body lunges first . Something in the upper body typically wants to lunge down toward the ground . The goal is to work out that urge and find a new downswing feel .
