OF THE YEAR
WHAT IS A FUN FACT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU ? Fredericksburg Country Club has a soft spot in my heart now because I have enjoyed so much success there . Cindy Thompson and I won the first VSGA Women ’ s Four-Ball Championship there . I qualified for my first ever USGA championship as the low medalist in the 2018 U . S . Women ’ s Mid-Am there , and I qualified for the 2021 U . S . Women ’ s Mid-Am there . Interestingly , I don ’ t find it particularly easy or well suited to my game , but I always seem to have success there .
BEST ADVICE / TIP YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM A COACH OR PROFESSIONAL ? I think the best advice I ever got was to “ have fun .” Years ago while warming up on the range at Glenmore , Dr . Bob Rotella was warming up next to me and I asked him “ How do the pros handle first tee pressure ?” I had just come back after struggling on the first hole ( triple

bogey ) of my U . S . Open Qualifier … I am still working on that , but I have gotten significantly better and “ having fun ” is the key . Having fun means get myself out of my head to enjoy the moment , relax into the beauty of where I am , the good fortune of playing such a wonderful game at this level and the opportunity to build lifelong friendships .

WHAT GOLF GOALS DO YOU HAVE IN 2022 ? I would like to try to improve on my success from 2021 . I would like to contend for the U . S . Senior Women ’ s Amateur title in Alaska . I ’ ve never been to Alaska . I also would like to qualify and play in the U . S . Women ’ s Senior Open ; successfully defend my VSGA Senior Women ’ s Amateur title ; contend for the VSGA Senior Women ’ s Four-Ball title ; and , depending on my schedule , I would like to contend for the VSGA Senior Women ’ s Stroke Play title and / or the Donna Andrews Invitational and give the U . S . Women ’ s Mid-Amateur another go .

WHAT WAS YOUR PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR ? Anytime you win a VSGA title ( Super Senior Amateur ), it ’ s the highlight of the year . Winning The Signature title in a playoff with David Partridge . Winning at The Fox Puss .
WHAT IS A FUN FACT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU ? My oldest son , John , was born in 1973 . We lived in Morgantown , W . Va ., and went to a Baptist church there . When we dropped John off in the nursery , legendary coach Bobby Bowden and his wife took care of him .
BEST ADVICE / TIP YOU HAVE RECEIVED FROM A COACH OR PROFESSIONAL ? The best advice is what I have learned from playing tournament golf . Be patient , if you have a couple of bad holes early , set a reasonable goal for the rest of the round . This would allow the best score possible .
WHAT GOLF GOALS DO YOU HAVE IN 2022 ? Stay on the right side of the grass ; defend my titles ; win ; finally retire .
