14TH SENIOR OPEN OF
VIRGINIA PRESENTED BY
INDEPENDENCE
INDEPENDENCE GC | Sept. 9-10
A well-timed bogey helped Dave Pulk hold on
for dear life and win his second Senior Open
title. Forced to take an unplayable lie after his
tee shot in the second round on No. 17, Pulk
scrambled, reached the green and drained
an eight-foot putt for bogey to keep him in
the lead. The crucial sequence kept Pulk one
stroke ahead of Roanoke’s Keith Myers, and
Pulk made par on 18 to hold on for the win.
“It was really one of the best bogeys of my
entire career,” Pulk said. “And it couldn’t
have come at a better time. … I didn’t want
the great round that I had to be ruined by
one bad swing.”
