Korda didn ' t disappoint in Texas , posting four rounds in the 60s to win the Chevron by two strokes . That week was a memorable one as well for Virginia native Lauren Coughlin . The former UVA standout carded her first top-10 finish in a major , tying for third with Brooke Henderson at 10-under , three strokes behind Korda .
Military Appreciation Days
The VSGA held its first Military Appreciation Day in fall 2023 , a successful event that prompted the expansion of the program in 2024 . The VSGA will hold four Military Appreciation Days this year , starting with a June 6 event at Fort Belvoir Golf Club ’ s Woodlawn Course in northern Virginia . The full rundown :

Championship update
A quick look back at results from earlyseason VSGA championships :
Chesapeake ’ s Xander Goboy and Trey Marrion posted a two-day total of 16-underpar 128 to claim the title at the 11th MAPGA / VSGA Junior Four-Ball Championship , held March 16-17 at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club in Kilmarnock . Goboy and Marrion opened the second round tied for the lead before dusting the field with a 9-under 63 to close out the victory , their third win in the last four years . Blacksburg ’ s Major Ewing and Cameron Sharp finished second at 10-under 134 . Goboy ( N . C . State ) and Marrion ( Illinois ) will both play Division I golf starting in fall 2024 .
Richmond-area golfers Ryan Taylor and Brandon Ramsuer became the first side to win multiple titles at the VSGA Multi-Format Team Championship , claiming their second victory in early April at The Dominion Club . The 2020 champions posted a two-day total of 15-under 129 to defeat a pair of runners-up — Adam Marshall and Marshall Tinsley , and Mark Hourigan and Danny Pedrazzi — by one stroke . Taylor and Ramsuer posted a 3-under 69 in the modified alternate shot round and closed out the victory with a tap-in par on No . 18 .
New YOC facilities
Two facilities have joined the Youth on Course Virginia roster for 2024 . First Tee – Hampton Roads and Shenandoah Valley Golf Club are new to the roster for this year . Juniors ages 6-18 are eligible to join Youth on Course , which comes with access to nearly 2,000 participating courses across the U . S . and Canada where youths can play a round of golf for $ 5 or less . In all , 43 courses in Virginia support the program . For more information , visit vsga . org / junior-golf / youth-on-course .
PGA HOPE used club drive
PGA HOPE ( Helping Our Patriots Everywhere ) is a program the Middle Atlantic PGA runs to help veterans gain a community and use golf as a rehabilitative outlet . Their Foundation will run 60 clinics that last 6-8 weeks at 28 locations in Maryland and Virginia , servicing over 1,200 veterans in 2024 . One way to help the cause is to donate clubs for the veterans to use during and after their training . Donations will be accepted at the VSGA office ( 2400 Dovercourt Drive , Midlothian , Va . 23113 ) and the MAPGA office ( 1 PGA Drive , Stafford , Va . 22554 ). Thanks in advance for your support !
