37th Virginia-West Virginia Team Matches Winners : Virginia 16 , West Virginia 12 The story : Ye Old Feudin ’ Stick remained in the Commonwealth as Virginia continued an unbeaten run against its counterparts from The Mountain State that dates to 2009 . After a tight first day of partner play at The Club at Creighton Farms , the matches were tied at 8 heading into Sunday singles play . Virginia claimed nine of the 14 points there to pull away for the victory . Richmond ’ s Adam Houck ( pictured ) went 3-0 on the weekend to lead Virginia .
“ I don ’ t understand why the record is what it is . It doesn ’ t make any sense to me ,” said Houck , who is 5-1 in his two appearances in the matches .
“ Top to bottom , they ’ ve got really good players . And for some reason , it continues to shake out this way . … Maybe the luck keeps going our way ? I can ’ t explain why .”
