2nd VSGA Four-Ball Match Play Championship
Keswick GC, Keswick, Oct. 28-30 No matter the type of four-ball play, Matt Chandler and Brandon LaCroix( Hunting Hills CC) are a formidable side. The pair, who won the VSGA Four-Ball Stroke Play title in 2014, added a VSGA Four-Ball Match Play title to their resume in the final tournament of the VSGA championship season. Their toughest match came in the semifinals, when they held on for a 1-up victory over Vince Wheeler and Corey Gallagher( Roanoke CC). Wheeler and Gallagher reached the semifinals by eliminating defending champs Keith Decker( Chatmoss CC) and Jon Hurst( Fredericksburg CC) in the quarterfinals.
QUICK FACTS: Field and format: Thirty-two sides, five rounds of 18-hole match play to determine a champion. It was over when: When LaCroix and Chandler made three straight birdies on holes 12-14 to take control of the match. Quotable:“ We fought, and we didn’ t play bad in any match. I think we were at least 6 under in every match.” – LaCroix
