Vintage Caravan Magazine Issue 27 | Page 5

«EDITOR’S RAVE« In this, our last issue of Vintage Caravan Magazine for 2015 I’ve decided to make a special showcase of some of the many creative people I have come to meet in my travels who are doing creative, wonderful things with vintage caravans. Creativity and a penchant for vintage caravans seem to go hand in hand, I’ve noticed. I guess creative types tend to appreciate the aesthetics of the more classic lines and unique character of vintage vehicles in general over their more modern counterparts. I also think that creativity seeks out beauty of all kinds, not just in the kind of caravans we find ourselves drawn to, but often in our environment as well. Maybe that is why we all like camping so much too. I noticed that after living for eight years in Maleny – still one of the most beautiful places in the world that I know of – how beautiful places seem to attract creative people. There were more artists, writers, musicians and the like in that little town than any other place I’ve lived. Oh how I miss it sometimes! In my travels across America I found that the same was true here as well, in the most exquisite places there seemed to be more art, more music and well, more creativity in general. I’m sure you will enjoy seeing what some of our creative VCM’ers have been up to with their caravans, very inspiring stuff. You certainly are a clever bunch! It’s been hard for me these past couple of months feeling a bit ‘without one of my limbs’ as I find myself, for the first time in several years, without a caravan to go and play in. Having given the subscriber prize caravan away in July and with my 1949 Crown “Rosie” still undergoing restoration work and not yet ready to make her debut, I sure have missed being able to get out and about and ‘do my caravan thing’. And I miss my vintage caravan family! I guess the universe figured I needed some time out, and I listened. I’m going to be OK… Thank you again for all of your messages, the hand written letters, the well wishes and the supportive phone calls – I’m so encouraged by the kindness of you all, thank you so much! My cup runneth over… I’d like to wish you all a fabulous holiday season, filled with love and family and beautiful things, lots of time to play and relax in your vintage caravans, and a year ahead where all your dreams come true.
