After more than a year of uncertainty and limited services , many local activities , events and businesses that may have once had to shutter blinds or severely curtail operations are now seeing a brighter future ahead .
Charbonneau activities and events that residents would usually partake in were canceled and classes at the clubhouse were empty . Now that ’ s changing .
After Gov . Kate Brown announced that COVID-19 restrictions would be lifted June 30 , businesses were allowed to eliminate restrictions related to social distancing , capacity and facial coverings , and clubhouse activities started returning to “ normal .”
“ It ’ s just really good to see faces again and peoples ’ smiles . To be able to see that kind of stuff again , it ’ s fantastic ,” said Charbonneau Country Club General Manager Jim Meierotto .
Jim said it ’ s been wonderful seeing people gather more for golf , card games and other indoor social gatherings .
“ That ’ s really what makes Charbonneau Charboneau — all the social and active things that people do ,” Jim said .
Among the activities that went quiet during the pandemic were mahjong , bridge and card games , because it was nearly impossible to participate in following social distancing and sanitation guidelines .
“ Those are the ones we were really happy to see come back ,” said Jim , adding that he ’ s starting to see more dinners , dances and musical performances take place . He reminded residents to not forget about the car show in August as well .
Jim said people can now call the CCC to reserve space for weddings , birthday parties , evening potlucks and other gatherings .
“ Solo Sisters , like so many other groups , went for 15 months during COVID without meeting . Now that Oregon has opened , we are anxious to find restaurants in the Wilsonville area who will take groups of 20-25 for happy hour ,” said Candy Ferguson with Solo Sisters . “ Until then , we are very happy to gather monthly at Charbonneau Country Club , to greet new members and reunite with friends and have some fun together . We are so lucky to have CCC available each month for our events !”
Jim said some safety practices from the pandemic

will remain in place , including general awareness for staff and asking residents to stay home when they don ’ t feel good .
“ Maybe people might take more caution to keep distance , stay home ,” Jim said . “ We did put some UV filtration in our HVAC system . I think that ’ s a positive that will be there indefinitely .”
Jim said it was tough to go back and forth between the governor ’ s orders , but he ’ s looking forward to the new “ normal .”
“ There was a new regulation every week or two . There ’ s a lot of back end work to comply with that , to coordinate and change how we operate ,” Jim said . “ So , that was stressful to say the least and frustrating at times . Just being able to go about our daily

work and do what we do will be a huge relief for the staff and board .”
