wet, sunny days seemingly rare. With the
temperature dropping, the nights drawing in,
it’s time to move cattle off their summer grazing
sites. First Alton, with the holding pen erected;
I must say, the high hurdle/gates seem to be
getting heavier, maybe it’s an age thing? To
encourage them into the pen I feed them daily,
cows are fine but their calves are

all cattle contained on the first attempt and
apart from a puncture in the trailer tyre (luckily
when empty), the move went well.

Easton, again daily feeding. The smaller store
cattle taken to graze Magdalen Hill Down
Butterfly Reserve at Winchester (opposite St
Swithun’s School), and the larger stores home
to be wormed and sorted for selling.
