How Dynamic Women in Missions Transforms Africa ’ s Communities
By Michelle Hawkins , Dynamic Women in Missions , Africa Coordinator
What a year this has been for Dynamic Women in Missions ( DWIM ) in Africa ! In September 2024 , we gathered a team to travel to Togo for a conference with our DWIM country coordinators . We designed this gathering to encourage and empower women as they lead their ministries , equipping them with confidence to “ fight the good fight ” for the kingdom of God .
The conference was a true milestone , with representatives from eight countries meeting in person and another joining via Zoom . We spent precious time together in worship , prayer , and open discussion , sharing the unique challenges each ministry faces . Together , as we explored our Seed Sower curriculum , we learned each other ’ s methods and discovered new ways to reach those around us .
One of the most inspiring moments was hearing a personal testimony of how this ministry has impacted lives . Winfred Owino shared how the Seed Sower curriculum has transformed her ministry . “ I ’ m the coordinator for DWIM in Uganda , and I lead a team of 13 Seed Sower trainers ,” Winfred explained . “ The Seed Sower manual has greatly impacted our outreach to women , families , churches , schools , and communities in Uganda .” Through this curriculum , she and her team have
counseled women with low self-esteem , using the lessons on identity in Christ to encourage them . These sessions have led to Bible studies at home , which grew into five churches in 2024 , all launched and led by women .
Winfred spoke about how the manual is also helping women disciple their families and children . “ The Seed Sower manual empowers women with biblical knowledge of what God says about them , giving them boldness and courage to stand and testify about Jesus . They ’ re overcoming intimidation and even countering false doctrines .”
The topic of spiritual warfare has been especially transformative . Women are now equipped to pray powerfully over their families and communities without feeling dependent on pastors for deliverance . “ Evangelism has been simplified with lessons on the 3 Circles ( a simple and effective visual presentation to communicate the Gospel message ) and a 30-second testimony ,” Winfred continued . “ The Seed Sower curriculum and training have led to church growth , Bible study groups , renewed families , and restored marriages . Women are counseling and comforting each other with Scripture , and pastors feel relief as women take on roles in ministry and prayer .”
