The Most Precious Road

While Psalms 23 is a well known passage of the sheep and shepherd, we sometimes tend to forget to apply it to our lives. But we will see God’ s kingdom as we follow His footsteps
S
heep are meek animals. One thing they do best is listen to their shepherd and show respect for him. We are like sheep. We are fragile, incompetent creations that stumble on our weakness. However, Jesus became our good shepherd to guide us into His eternal kingdom. He called us to follow His steps daily, to reflect His glorious light to the world, to walk on the most precious road that leads to everlasting life.
We humans do not have any ability to join His ministry on our own. Jesus knew this and assured us with His word. In Psalms 23, God describes a shepherd, ra’ ah) רָ‏ עָה( in Hebrew, as the ruler, teacher, provider, and friend. He promises us that He will guide us through every situation, to complete His will to build His kingdom. He will feed us in green pastures and quench our thirst in quiet waters. He will restore our soul when we crumble and fail. He will guide us in paths of righteousness for His name’ s sake. He will protect us in the Valley of Death with His rod and staff. He will lead us through everything. Like as sheep, we should fix our eyes upon Him and listen to His voice in reverence and adoration. And follow Him step by step. However, following Christ is not easy. It does not promise us comfort and wealth. And it will get harder to fully stay in Him as the temptation grows before us because the world tries to take us away from the road. Therefore, we have to choose daily to walk on the most precious road and be strong in faith in times of temptation because there is everlasting life in Jesus.

n July 2016, KBS( Korean Broadcasting System) reported that 53 Korean businesses contributed 74 billion South Korean Won( 65.8 million US Dollars) into the MI-R Foundation and K-Sports Foundation. Then, a couple of Korean reporters raised suspicion about this process. As the investigation proceeded, the public began to suspect that Park Geun-hey accompanied Choi Soon-sil’ s involvement in the establishment of the MI-R Foundation and K-Sports Foundation. This Political situation of Choi and her gang using the two foundations and governmental power for personal gain became the foremost issue in South Korea. The Blue House categorically denied this fact. However, the media acquired Choi’ s tablet PC and found Choi’ s manipulative interactions with president’ s speech and government policy data. The media found out that Choi not only corrected the president’ s speech, but also instructed her in regards to unification, foreign policy, and state affairs. The anger of the people began to boil. Then in October 2016, the first candlelight assembly was held to support the impeachment of the corrupt politicians. Prosecutors then arrested Choi and her people in November. Seeing the corruption in the country and the president’ s untruthful reaction and attitude, 16 million protesters in total came up into streets with candlelight, desiring true democracy in the country. After few months of investigation and trials, on March 10, 2017, South Korea’ s Constitutional Court impeached Park Geun-hye. On March 24, Park was arrested on charges relating to abuse of power, accepting bribes, and leaking important information. To replace the impeached president, the 19th South Korean presidential election was held. On May 9, Moon Jae-in beat four other candidates with 41.08 % of the vote. Because of this presidential scandal, the corrupted powers behind the scenes were revealed and the desire for real democracy was planted in the citizens’ hearts.
