VIEWPOINT MAGAZINE Volume 5.4 May 2017 | Page 3

Letter From the EIC W elcome to the fourth edition of the 2016-2017 Viewpoint Magazine. In this edition, the writers have given their insight into the theme of accomplishment. We, as a team, look forward to showing different perspectives regarding this topic. As the school year comes to an end, many students have probably asked themselves, “What have I accomplished? Does the accomplishments determine my value? In the end, what really matters?” The articles in this will bring you greater understanding of what accomplishment truly means. As the school year comes to an end, there are many beloved members of Journalism who will not be returning next school year. I would like to thank the former Layout Editor, Kairos Loya, and former Project Manager, Audrey Wasito for their hard work this school year. I also want to thank Sarah Lee, the former EIC, for supporting and aiding me in all ways possible during this transition. Moreover, I want to thank Mr. Spangler and Mrs. Angeles, the advisers for putting time and effort into our magazine to produce quality work. Hopefully our articles will be entertaining as well as inciting. For Him, Sung Bin Youn From the Teacher’s Desk T hink back on all the accomplishments you achieved this school year. Don’t be tricked into thinking that any of them would have happened without the contributions of others. For example, the Mountainview Battle of the Books team earned the championship last fall. But that never would have happened without Mr. Spangler’s coaching or without the competition of the other teams to push them toward excellence. The Mountainview Girls and Boys Basketball teams earned the championship this year. But that would never have happened without the coaching of Mr. Beliasov and Mr. Grant or without the encouragement of Mr. Martin. And remember back to the beginning of the school year when your teachers showed you what you would be learning this school year. Do you remember how overwhelming that felt at the time? But now, you can look back on the year and see how you have expanded your knowledge in all those subjects. Of course you studied hard to earn the grades that you have received, but you also wouldn’t have accomplished all that on your own. You had teachers who directed your learning, parents or dorm deans who encouraged you to buckle down and study when you didn’t want to, and even friends who helped you find the answers to those tricky problems. So remember to be grateful to all those accomplices who helped you to accomplish your goals this year. Layout by James Kwak 2
