The 9th Grade Business Fair!
By Richard Wen
On May 8, students from the Civics class gathered at the pavilion to conduct one of Mountainview’ s old traditions: the Business Fair. On that day, their planning skills, investments, and knowledge of supply and demand were put to an ultimate test as they opened up micro-businesses to the masses of hungry students during lunch. However, it seemed that a group had won a minor victory before the main clash even began. Dong Uk, Ryang Gul, Grace and Shivangi managed to sell all their corn dogs before lunch, giving them a head start over their competitors. This advantage didn’ t last long, however, as caps started to fly off the table in Jeremy’ s group. However, no matter who stood out victorious over their profit margins, all of them have surely learned a lot about economy and the art of entrepreneurship. Hats off to you for a successful Business Fair, 9th graders.
A sneak peak at next year’ s retreat
Take heed, students of Mountainview, for here’ s another important date to mark on your calendar: the fall retreat on August 22-23. To maximize access to this event, the retreat will be held exclusively on school days, starting on Thursday morning and ending at 2:30 on Friday. The school has decided to bring about a welcome change to the program next year, because this time participants are staying in the Salib Putih Hotel. That’ s right, the actual hotel some students wished for the last time MICS held a retreat. The event also promises fun, excitement, activities and most importantly Bible studies.
The New Student Government
3
On May 16, 12 nominees from 6th to 11th grade met to determine the future of the student council. The presidential election lasted 2 rounds as Peter Cho and Min Hwa Son competed for the position. However, Peter Cho eventually gave way to Minhwa after continual draws. After the council’ s president was decided, more voting was done and Peter Cho was finally elected as the council’ s vice-president, Eun Bin Cho as the treasurer, and Jeremy Purwo as the council secretary.
