Change and Transformation

“ Crush Depth.” This phrase comes from the world of

submarines. Though designed to handle the tremendous pressures of the ocean depths and at huge costs, all submarines have limits to how deep they can go. The bottom limit is called“ Crush Depth,” in which the pressures of the ocean overwhelm the structural strength of the submarine and destroy it.
Our goal here at MICS is both transformation and resilience. The world and its values and its speed of change are a constant pressure on each of us, trying to crush us into its mold( Romans 12:1-2). God, on the other hand, is an even bigger but gentler pressure. His goal is“ change” and“ transformation”. He is making us into the image of His Son Jesus( II Cor 3:18; I John 3:2-3). As we“ look at Jesus,” we are changed to be like Him. His“ pressure,” however, never violates our will or free choice. We get to choose – even to reject Him, but our choices will form us and transform us. AND we will answer for those choices.
Here at MICS, we want to work with God’ s transforming work. We want to help you with those choices by being a place of grace which means we allow questioning and even failure, but love all the same. Since Jesus is full of grace AND truth, we want to be too, and want to help you pursue grace and truth. Of course we fall short of those high goals, but we want you to pursue them with all your strength.

“ All the days of the oppressed are wretched, ut the cheerful heart has a continuous feast.” Proverbs 15:15

With that verse, I encourage you be cheerful as

you get ready to say the goodbyes to your friends. This does not mean you should not cry at graduation. Instead, be cheerful and joyful as you say your goodbyes; rather than oppressed, sad and maybe even envious. I wish I would have heard these words years ago, so now I pass them on with great hope and anticipation of huge changes and the plans God made for your life. I have been so blessed to go to school at Mountainview and I am cheerful about how it will bless you all.
