McRaven House

Cedar Grove and McRaven are two of Vicksburg’ s most notable antebellum homes. While each carries a fascinating history, owner Kendra Reed and her husband Steven, have helped pull the tour homes into the present day— offering guests experiences that are both inviting and, in McRaven’ s case, otherworldly.

Long regarded as one of Mississippi’ s most haunted houses, McRaven, which was constructed in three distinct time periods, has always drawn attention to its mysterious happenings. And now, in addition to guided history, haunted, or combination tours of the home, visitors can also join monthly ghost hunts that teach them how to use ghost-hunting equipment. Also available are private ghost investigations, which give groups exclusive access to the home.
Another layer of intrigue offered at the McRaven House are candlelight tours. During the month of October, costumed interpreters are stationed in each room of the home to portray former residents who share personal accounts of life at McRaven. Also offered in October is Scare Con. This event expands the haunted experience into a weekend of entertainment, food, and a fullscale paranormal investigation at both the McRaven House and the Old Depot Museum.
2025 marked the 10th anniversary of the couple’ s ownership. Last year, the home was featured in a televisio pilot called“ Ghostwriters.”
“ And it’ s not about hauntings at all,” Reed said of the pilot.“ In this particular show, the creators stay the night at McRaven and then write a song inspired by one of the home’ s stories. And then we will have a reveal
