Ranking His Most Heralded Movies
by Bryon Cook
Whatever your personal
opinion of Mel may be, you
cannot deny his ability to
shine on the big screen. I
could debate many of his
films over the years and I’m
sure you will have your own
opinion of his best, but we
have to start somewhere so
here we go.
Ransom: Very good
movie with a good
plot and twists that showed
his ability to look and be
vulnerable, yet still deliver
some of his trademark Mel
Gibson attitude and kick
ass. My only real problem

with this film is that who
really gets that defiant with
kidnappers when you have
the money to pay them off?
Either way it was a dope
movie.
The Patriot: Another
film that shows his
vulnerability and ability to
kick ass at the same time.
The scene where he takes
on the whole squad and
gets his son out of trouble
is one of the best scenes
I’ve ever seen him in period.
Definitely one of his most
complete bodies of work
and a must have for war film

buffs.

Lethal Weapon: This
movie introduced
us Martin Riggs, a badass
detective who seems to have
a deathwish. To me this is
the movie that set Mel on
his way to movie star status
and also launched one of the
best movie trilogies of all
time (part 4 doesn’t count in
my eyes). If you haven’t seen
this movie your tripping and
you should spend the next
six hours watching parts 1-3
now!
Braveheart: The movie

the life of the real William
Wallace is my pick for his
best work. It shows all
facets of his acting chops
and delivers enough action
for us men and enough
romance to keep our ladies
entertained while we watch
it. Maybe I like this one so
much because I’m a fan of
medieval flicks like this,
Gladiator and Spartacus, but
the truth is this movie is just
badass. If you haven’t seen it
then do yourself a favor and
go watch it now!!!
