close to thirty years, MCCD members have worked together to increase opportunities for the development of quality, community-based projects through collaborative action on public policy issues, loan fund development, public education efforts and long-term strategic planning. Through these efforts, the organization has demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiencies gained by a shared vision of cooperation.
Mendoza pointed out that the organization puts a particular emphasis on supporting marginalized communities.“ The BIPOC community, women and LGBT business owners sometimes have a harder time getting loans and starting projects,” he said.

The Minnesota Consortium of Community Developers( MCCD) was founded in 1989 when a group of nonprofit community development organizations came together to expand economic opportunity and community development efforts.
Through its Open to Business program, offered in partnership with Ramsey County, MCCD provides free, confidential business advising and technical assistance to current and prospective entrepreneurs across the metro area, including support with business planning, financial projections, and access to financing.
