On June 1 , 2022 , a new Minnesota law went into effect , allowing companies such as IC System to offer work-from-home options on a permanent basis . This new law allowed IC System ’ s leadership team to make the decision to permanently offer remote work for employees .
Joe Erickson , IC System ’ s Vice President of Human Resources , saw the potential this had to increase recruiting power , employee retention , and satisfaction , particularly if they could invest in creating a remote onboarding program that would allow employees to work from home from their first day of employment . To achieve this , in the Fall of 2022 , IC System chose to partner with Century College ’ s Customized Training department to create an onboarding program for new employees that can be completed in a secure , virtual environment .
IC System ’ s program includes 80 hours of classroom learning , along with 40 hours of “ hands on ” experience where agents take live calls under the supervision of a trainer or experienced agent , then are debriefed in a classroom setting . Century College is now endeavoring to take the classroom experience virtual , where new employees will learn about the company culture , laws , processes , procedures , and approved collection techniques on a self-paced schedule , while also gaining experience with live calls via remote meetings with trainers and colleagues .
For this project , IC System is working in tandem with Century College ’ s curriculum and content developers to analyze , edit , and create new high-tech and engaging content based on the company ’ s current needs and industry standards . Century College was excited to sign on to this partnership as it provides an expansion of knowledge for instructional design , and technology .
A September 1 , 2023 launch date is planned .
