The Ocean
Rafferty Van der Spuy
The ocean waves sweep in
Gold sand envelops feet Foam broils on the surface Flecks spray onto the street To the heart of the earth Gentle currents do lead The push pull of the sea I watch the tide recede
The salty aroma Meanders over waves
Ocean erodes the rocks Making foreboding caves Water runs through fingers Lurching for an escape Refuge within the sand
Peace returns to the cape
The salty ocean breeze Sweeps through the seaside town
Gently serenading A soft and gentle sound
Seagulls ' cries grace the air A resonating calm
Rids you of your worries You cannot come to harm .
