Proctorsville Christmas Ghost Walk
In 2020 , the Cavendish Historical Society ( CHS ) had to cancel their planned ghost walk . In its place was “ A Christmas Eve Ghost Story ”, featuring both the Golden Stage Inn and its various ghosts , as well as some of the local spirits . The story is available online at the CHS blog . cavendishhistoricalsocietynews . blogspot . com / 2020 / 12 / a-cavendishchristmas-ghost-story-2020
On December 12 , the 2021 Proctorsville Christmas Ghost Walk begins in front of the Proctorsville War Memorial on Route 131 ( close to the intersection of 131 and Depot St ) at 7pm . The tour proceeds down Depot St ., with information about what places are thought to be haunted . It ends at the Golden Stage Inn , where there will be a bonfire . What better place – and way – to learn about one of the most haunted inns in New England . The tour is free and open to the public , but donations are appreciated . This is an easy walk . Please dress according to the weather and bring a flashlight . For more information call 802-226-7807 or email margocaulfield @ icloud . com .

A Letter from Community Food Cupboard
Dear Community Food Cupboard Supporters and Friends ,
I am writing to ask you to support the Community Food Cupboard ( CFC ). The CFC relies on our volunteers , our program manager , our local businesses , and your donations to provide food to those in need in our community .
Each week we provide nutritious food , including meats , dairy , fresh vegetables and fruits to hundreds of our neighbors . While some of our food is donated , much of the food that the CFC distributes must be purchased . On average approximately 8 tons of food moves through our doors monthly . Your gift will continue to make this possible .
The CFC is located in the Manchester Town Hall , and this last quarter , we provided food weekly to over 930 people . We are open Wednesdays and Thursdays , and on Fridays for prearranged food pickup . The CFC also maintains an emergency pantry if someone needs access off hours . To continue to make all this happen , we need your support .
Sometimes , it can be difficult to see the need that exists in our community . As one measure of need , one can look at our schools . In our local schools , more than a third , and in some cases , almost half of all children qualify for reduced or free lunch . Many of our clients are seniors . This older group of clients live on limited incomes , with many homebound , needing food delivered directly to them each week . With recent inflation rates at 6 %, increases in food and gas prices will make it more difficult for people to afford food .
The CFC receives no public funding . Our entire budget is funded from gifts from friends like you . Every dollar donated to the CFC can provide two meals to a neighbor who is struggling . If you are interested in supporting us in any way , or volunteering , please visit us at : communityfoodcupboard . org
We accept online donations through Facebook and our website . Your contributions , no matter the size , go a long way to meet the needs of so many in our community .
I am awed by the spirit of volunteerism and the selfless dedication that so many people have given to this cause . We hope , in this season of giving , you will consider the Community Food Cupboard and help us to reach our goals for next year . Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and your ongoing support of the CFC .
Warm wishes for a happy holiday season , Deb Moser
President , Board of the Community Food Cupboard
