Many of the toys we sell here speak to many aspects of a child ’ s personality . We want to use the toys as a prompt to find out about their interests and their unique play pattern .”
Fugate explains that play patterns refer to the natural manner in which different children relate to play . “ Some kids who are very creatively inclined will just forge ahead with artistic pursuits . They ’ ll just want a blank piece of paper , because their imagination is so powerful . Other children will not react the same way when you give them a blank piece of paper . They might shy away entirely , because they need something more to inspire them .” In instances like these , Fugate recommends stimulating creative impulses through the use of guiding tools , such as stencils and coloring books . “ When you gain insight into a child ’ s play pattern , you can learn how to help them play more successfully . When you break down those barriers , you can help them have fun with what they ’ re doing and set them up on the path to success .”
