PRIMARY AND EARLY YEARS
WELCOME TO
VIS PRIMARY
SCHOOL!
As I’ve moved into my second year at VIS, I feel more
of the same excitement I did when I first arrived. My
energy and optimism are fueled by the fact that we
continue to push toward new frontiers, pursue higher
aspirations and achieve results that place us among
international schools across the globe. Since the start
of the school year we have developed a student
council, rapidly improved our reading and writing
practices, have had many exciting, successful exit
points, and have continued to explore student voice
and choice in our classrooms. In a school such as ours
that is constantly raising the bar in what defines
educational excellence centred around kindness,
there are many stories to tell that go beyond the
pages of this publication. Our students are building a
robust collection of experiences at Verita. At VIS, we
do not expect students to bend to a fixed model of
traditional school models. Instead, we adapt to the
needs of each student by offering a myriad of
opportunities for learning. Our ultimate goal is to
provide the students on our campus with unique
approaches to learning that match their intellect, as
well as their social, emotional and physical needs. I
could continue with examples of how we continue to
invest in areas of service, leadership, inquiry and
learning, but I hope my point is clear. In this next half
of the school year, when you have opportunities to
meet with your child’s teachers I encourage you to let
them know what you think best motivates your son or
daughter. Our commitment to partnering with
parents means among other things that we want to
learn how to best cater to your children from
understanding your intimate knowledge of them. In
doing so, we avoid the trap of being just an ordinary
“one-size-fits-all” school and instead, can lead as an
exceptional school where all individuals find their
unique fit.

"Our school’s mission calls
us to inspire students and
the only way we can truly do
this is if we tap into what
motivates each individual
learner"
