In Memoriam : Ted Herget
Charles E . “ Ted ” Herget , Jr ., former university Board of Trustees Chair , passed away on March 2 . Ted served on the Board of Trustees from 1975 to 2005 — including a three-year term as Chair from 2002 to 2005 — and participated in some of the most transformational

Baltimore born and raised , Ted attended Loyola High School and earned his Bachelor ’ s in Business Administration from Loyola College . He went on to study taxation , retirement planning , employee benefits , and investments at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Baltimore . Ted co-founded and served as principal and senior consultant at Asset Strategy Consultants , an independent investment consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore . In 2004 , Governor Robert L . Ehrlich , Jr . appointed Ted to the Maryland Economic Development Commission .
Ted ’ s spirit of service embraced many organizations , including , but not limited to , the American Red Cross , the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce , the Greater Baltimore Committee ,
Maryvale Preparatory School , and the National Aquarium in Baltimore .
On behalf of the entire Stevenson community , we share our deep respect for Ted and his legacy with his wife Sheila , his children , and grandchildren , and express our abiding appreciation for his many contributions to Villa Julie and Stevenson .

New Professional Minor Programs
To help Stevenson students make strong career connections during their college years , we are offering two new Professional Minors — Event Planning and Web Design — and updated the Professional Minor in Software Design and Coding .
Professional Minors enable students to learn new skills and capabilities , gain a competitive edge in the job market , add value to their degree , and further align their Stevenson experience with their specific career goals .
“ Students have been mixing and matching majors , minors , and Professional Minors for a while — some even choose to earn multiple Professional Minors ,” said Amanda Hostalka , Vice Provost for Outreach and Dean of the School of Design , Arts , and Communication . “ These new options not only offer more choice , but also unlock more career options and pathways for our students .”
