H i g u y s , w e l c o m e t o V E N T S ! H o w h a v e y o u b e e n ? Hi VENTS, we've been getting inspired about our return. Making this music again makes us excited about being alive! C a n y o u t a l k t o u s m o r e a b o u t y o u r s o n g " B u r m a " ? We heard a BBC Radio Four documentary about a peculiar thing British soldiers did in World War II, whereby they would write acronyms on the back of their letters home to sweethearts. Be Upstairs Ready My Angel (BURMA) was the one that stood out. For us it contained both the romance of returning home to a lover's bedroom, whilst also accommodating the possibility of meeting up in heaven 'upstairs'. The thoughts and feelings of a soldier - any soldier - on the frontlines missing his girl whilst fearing for his life is something we wanted to explore with the dignity and honor it deserves. Well, there is a lot of war around at the moment, and lots of young men get sent into the most horrible situations when all they want is to be at home with their sweethearts. In a way this is a song for every soldier who truly wants peace. H o w w a s t h e f i l m e x p e r i e n c e ? This was filmed by a particularly gifted chap called Chris Lewis-Smith who makes intriguing movement movies. Chris had the brainwave to make this all about returning - the scene that all soldiers probably imagine over and over throughout the conflict. The film's actor, Eamon Haughian brought a special kind of gravity to this film which was shot on-the-cheap around Radstock in Somerset. They've got an old WW2 museum at Midsomer Norton.
