Hi VENTS, we've been getting inspired about our

about being alive!

We heard a BBC Radio Four documentary about a
peculiar thing British soldiers did in World War II,
whereby they would write acronyms on the back of
their letters home to sweethearts. Be Upstairs
Ready My Angel (BURMA) was the one that stood
out. For us it contained both the romance of
returning home to a lover's bedroom, whilst also
accommodating the possibility of meeting up in
heaven 'upstairs'. The thoughts and feelings of a
soldier - any soldier - on the frontlines missing his
girl whilst fearing for his life is something we wanted
to explore with the dignity and honor it deserves.
Well, there is a lot of war around at the moment, and
lots of young men get sent into the most horrible
situations when all they want is to be at home with
their sweethearts. In a way this is a song for every
soldier who truly wants peace.

This was filmed by a particularly gifted chap called
Chris Lewis-Smith who makes intriguing movement
movies. Chris had the brainwave to make this all
about returning - the scene that all soldiers probably
imagine over and over throughout the conflict. The
film's actor, Eamon Haughian brought a special kind
of gravity to this film which was shot on-the-cheap
around Radstock in Somerset. They've got an old
WW2 museum at Midsomer Norton. We had a great
