VIA:

7 Million? Wow, and on Facebook. Is it true that there are blocks on posts?

DAN:

People say, “oh, but Facebook is preventing everyone from seeing my post.” You are absolutely right! There is an algorithm that Facebook has put in place that prevents everyone from seeing your posts.

VIA:

You know why?

DAN:

So you will buy Facebook advertising. Well, let me tell you something. If you learn the things I’m talking about, and you learn how to put content out there that is really good content that algorithm won’t stop you. It hasn’t stopped us. We are acquiring 2,000 to 3,000 new likes a DAY on Facebook and these are active people. The people talking about this number. Again, is the difference between someone driving by our gig and waving at the venue that is the equivalent of someone clicking like on your page but going in to the event and buying hor d'oeuvres having refreshments, watching your show and maybe buying your cd on the way out, That’s the equivalent of the engagement of commenting and sharing because they are a part of what you are doing; That is your real audience.

What about paid advertising on Facebook?

DAN:

The mistake that a lot of people make is that they pay for Facebook advertising for two reasons:

1.They believe that this is the thing to do and this is totally reasonable to believe that.

2.Out of desperation. I need more likes, I need more likes.

Facebook advertising doesn’t work and here’s another nugget from my course. I’m going to tell everybody right now why it doesn’t work.

Will Facebook advertising let you drill down to who you really want to reach? Yes.

Are there multiple ways to pay for that advertising? Yes.

And, will it acquire new likes? Yes.

Paying for Facebook will give you more likes.

And this is where it breaks. Those likes are either from off the wall, third world countries that are never going to come to your event, never going to buy from you, and never going to engage with you. And by the way, everything I am talking about applies to whether you are a local artist that only wants to do business here or a local business who wants to only do business here or you are a global company like my company Drum Talk TV the same things apply. There is another way that Facebook adverting likes don’t work.

You when we are going through our Facebook experience and we are going through our newsfeed and something appears on the right side of the screen? There’s a nice little thumbnail graphic, a nice little clip and it might get your attention enough to reach over with your mouse and click like and then you keep going on with your Facebook experience and you never go back to that page. You never go to their page, you never read their about, you never see their content and that’s why…yeah, pay for Facebook advertising, the likes will add up but none of that matters.
