In line with global best practice, Varsity College has
shifted away from the ‘traditional lecturing’ method where
students sit passively, listening to the subject expert. We
believe that this approach to teaching has lost relevance
for students entering the world of work today. Internet
connectivity, access to information, social networks and
mobility have changed the context of learning. To this
end, our teaching methods have been adapted to support
students with building knowledge and developing skills for
the 21st century.
The Varsity College teaching philosophy is grounded
in an authentic, modern, blended-learning student
experience. We aim to ensure that your academic life is
as relevant and participative as possible. Learning, we
believe, is a dynamic engagement with others and new
sources of information. Our unique, interactive approach
means you are able to participate actively in your studies
while connecting with others to collaborate, create and
communicate in a digitally fluent manner in order to build
understanding and develop critical thinking.
VCLearn
In keeping with our focus on global best practice, and
a blended approach to learning, Varsity College has
introduced its own Learning Management System,
known as VCLearn.
Essentially, VCLearn is an online environment that
uses activities to drive learning, providing you with the
opportunity to apply the theory you cover in class to real
life scenarios. This means that when you are ready to
enter the world of work, you will have developed a set of
skills that will allow you to demonstrate your theoretical
knowledge in practice; a definite advantage in today’s
competitive job market.
Through VCLearn you will have access to a broad range
of module learning activities and resources that you can
access at any time you choose. The mobile app will
ensure that VCLearn is also available to you via your
smart phone.
In addition to VCLearn, Varsity College has also launched
three of its own MOOCs. MOOCs are Massive, Open, Online,
Courses that cover a wide range of topics and are offered
by a number of highly reputable institutions, of which
The IIE Varsity College is one. The duration of these online
courses can range from a few days to a few months,
and are either self paced or guided by an online tutor.
Not only do MOOCs provide you with an excellent
opportunity to grow your personal and professional skills,
they also look good on your CV.
