REVIEWS REVIEW BY BENEDICT JONES IQ 3SEC SPECS: Pod capacity: 2ml Battery capacity: 400mAh internal cell Power output: 6.8W Charging: Micro-USB PROS - SLEEK, STEALTHY DESIGN - EASY AND MESS-FREE REFILLS - LONG VAPE TIME FROM SUCH A SMALL DEVICE CONS - POSSIBLY TAILORED FOR 20MG+ STRENGTH E-LIQUIDS Hangsen should be no stranger to any seasoned vaper. They were one of the first companies to bring e-liquids to a mainstream audience, and to this day remain as one of the industry’s most ubiquitous brands. Mostly associated with beginner friendly e-liquids and stripped back flavour profiles, it makes sense that Hangsen would try their luck in the burgeoning pod kit market. The IQ – short for “I Quit” – pod devices offer both open and closed systems, with the IQ 3SECS being their flagship open system pod. Filling the IQ 3SECS pods is nice and simple. A rubber grommet towards the underside of the pod provides ample room to both fill the device and allow air to escape. The 2ml capacity should be ideal for most people, since e-liquid consumption is greatly decreased with the higher nicotine strengths and lower wattages that pod systems cater to. Once filled, allow 10 to 15 minutes for the wicks to fully saturate and you’re ready to vape. The pod slides into the battery compartment easily and is secured magnetically for a reliable connection. The IQ 3SECS features a 0.96-inch TFT screen that conveniently displays battery life and puff time. This is a welcome feature in such a tiny pod system, as it is often difficult to decipher the small flashing LEDs used by other devices when in direct sunlight, so you won’t be caught out when on the go. Despite a rather small 400mAh capacity internal cell, the IQ 3SECS achieves an impressive vape time. This is likely due to the high resistance 2ohm coils inside the pods. The result is a rather cool 6.8W vape, but that’s not a problem when using the high strength liquids that this device was clearly built around. I used a range of e-liquids whilst testing this device, but favoured 20mg freebase nicotine, since it provides a strong throat hit, which offsets the low power that this device puts out. In markets outside of the EU, I can see this device absolutely shining with the higher strength nicotine salt blends. Flavour production isn’t anything to write home about, but the same can be said of any pod system currently available. Hangsen advertise the IQ 3SECS as having a 45-minute charge time, though in my experience this was shorter, generally charging from flat to full in around 30 minutes. Overall this is an impressive pod system, provided you don’t expect substantial vapour production from such a tiny device. Hangsen have done well to avoid unnecessary features and prolong battery life with super high resistance coils. 76 | VMC
