new technology for the first time at May ’ s Vaper Expo UK and have since been putting the Rhythm kit through its paces to see if this new design could truly change how we vape . Thankfully , Usonicig have made the Rhythm kit simple to operate and maintain , despite being a somewhat alien vaping device . It has just one button and no confusing menu systems . The device is refilled via removable pods with a TPD-friendly 2ml capacity . A simple turn of the affixed drip tip opens the fill ports , which are of a forgiving size and should accommodate even the largest e-liquid bottles without any spills or unwanted residue . The pod easily slides into the top of the device and secures magnetically . For me , this is the first shortcoming of the Rhythm kit . The magnets which hold it in place are adequate for the most part , but do not feel quite as solid as I would like . I predict that this could cause problems down the line , but this is a very simple thing to revise in subsequent batches of the replaceable pods . After allowing 10 minutes for the pod to become fully saturated with e-liquid , it ’ s ready to vape . The experience is quite unlike anything that I have previously tried . Upon pressing the fire bar , instead of an instantaneous rush of vapour , the ultrasonic technology takes a few seconds to get up to speed . The result is a cooler vape than most people will be used to , but the flavour production is quite impressive . I must note that the first few puffs had a somewhat muted flavour , but after this bedding-in period , I had a consistently flavourful vape . Using a variety of familiar e-liquids , I found that it has the uncanny ability to sooth the throat hit of some profiles . Citrus liquids that can sometimes irritate the throat were extremely smooth here , which is a nice bonus for users who like to avoid a strong throat hit . E-liquid consumption also seems to be very conservative with the Usonicig Rhythm . I typically found myself refilling the 2ml pod only once during a day ’ s use of 3mg e-liquid , which is certainly less than I would normally use on any given day . With all of these positives , I would be remiss not to mention the slight inconveniences of this new ultrasonic system . Firstly , the lack of instantaneous firing is annoying when you are in a timedependent setting and simply need a quick hit of nicotine . The ultrasonic chip does take some time to get to work and there are no additional settings on the Rhythm to speed up the process . There also seems to be a lot of heat transferred between the body of the device and the removable pod . When removing the pod to refill after a vaping session , the magnetic contacts are hot to the touch and the body of the device is also quite warm . Whilst not terribly concerning , I would be happy to see this issue dealt with in future models . Finally , the battery life , or perhaps efficiency of power transfer leaves something to be desired with the Usonicig Rhythm kit . An internal 1500mAh cell is unlikely to last all day at the best of times – unless being used with high nicotine e-liquids – but in this case I found that I was needing to re-charge the Rhythm after a few hours of moderate use . This doesn ’ t seem entirely unreasonable to me , as this is the first implementation of ultrasonic technology in vaping and I expect improvements in efficiency will come in time . Overall , the Usonicig Rhythm kit is an exciting device which serves as a glimpse into the potential future of vaping . If the heat up time and battery efficiency can be improved , I can see a lot of people favouring ultrasonic vaping in the not too distant future . Usonicig must be commended for taking the time to develop a product which is totally different , in an extremely crowded hardware market .
